Johannes Molin is a Swedish designer and maker whose work centers on woodcraft and furniture design. He studied mathematics and science at the University of Gothenburg before transitioning into teaching, woodworking, and interior design. Molin’s practice is deeply influenced by Scandinavian design traditions, emphasizing simplicity, proportion, and material integrity. Working primarily with wood, he develops furniture and interior elements that highlight both structural clarity and natural variation. His work reflects an ongoing interest in the relationship between mathematical thinking and design, particularly how systems, proportion, and geometry inform form. In addition to his studio practice, Molin has been involved in teaching and craftsmanship. He built his own home, finding the most joy in constructing a beautifully twisted staircase from a climbing ash tree from his childhood.
