Daniel Michalik

Daniel Michalik is a New York–based designer and founder of DMFD, a studio focused on furniture and objects produced through environmentally responsible methods. He received his MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. Michalik’s work explores sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, often incorporating recycled and renewable resources. His designs are developed with an emphasis on longevity, function, and environmental impact. In addition to his studio practice, he teaches product design at Parsons School of Design. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution. Michalik has collaborated with a range of clients across design and hospitality, and his work has been featured in publications including The New York Times and Dwell.
