Alissia Melka-Teichroew is the founder and creative director of byAMT, a New York-based design studio that creates jewelry, home goods and furniture. The daughter of a French mother and American father, Alissia was born and raised in The Netherlands. She spent her undergraduate years at Design Acadetheir Eindhoven and holds a Masters of Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. After gaining experience at IDEO and Puma International, Alissia founded byAMT in 2007. Her designs are as much about whimsy as practicality. She has lectured and critiqued at RISD, the Chicago Art Institute, Pratt Institute, Philadelphia University of the Arts and Cranbrook Acadetheir of Arts.
