Samuel Wilkinson is a British industrial designer based in London. He studied furniture and related product design at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication before founding his own studio in 2007. Wilkinson’s work spans lighting, furniture, and product design, often characterized by a balance between technical innovation and refined form. He is widely recognized for his Plumen 001 light bulb, developed in collaboration with Hulger, which reimagines the compact fluorescent bulb as a sculptural object and received the Brit Insurance Design of the Year Award in 2011. His studio has developed projects for a range of international manufacturers and brands, with a focus on material exploration and manufacturing processes. Wilkinson’s approach emphasizes clarity, efficiency, and longevity, positioning design as both functional and expressive.
