Patrick Townsend is an American industrial designer and founder of Townsend Design, a New York–based studio established in 1998. Born in Manhattan and raised in Vermont, he studied industrial design at Pratt Institute. Townsend’s practice focuses on lighting, furniture, and custom architectural installations, often combining technical precision with sculptural form. His work includes both limited-edition pieces and large-scale custom commissions for architects and interior designers. One of his most recognized works, the Orbit Chandelier, has been widely exhibited and is noted for its geometric structure and use of tensioned cables to create a dynamic spatial presence. Through his studio, Townsend has developed projects for residential and commercial environments, emphasizing craftsmanship, material innovation, and structural clarity.
