Francois Dallegret

François Dallegret is a French-Canadian artist and designer known for his experimental work across architecture, design, and visual art. Born in 1937, he became associated with the avant-garde design movements of the 1960s and 1970s. Dallegret is widely recognized for his collaborations with architect Reyner Banham, particularly the conceptual project Environment-Bubble (1965), which explored ideas of technology, environment, and habitation. His work often challenges conventional distinctions between architecture and object design. Over the course of his career, Dallegret has produced drawings, installations, and conceptual proposals that examine systems, infrastructure, and the built environment. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in major institutional collections. Dallegret’s practice reflects a critical engagement with modernity and technology, positioning design as a speculative and investigative discipline.
